I am currently in the south tower and I dont know if its the same in the other buildings but I think we need more recycling boxes.
Starting with the mail area garbage, there should be a separate bin for paper specifically because when people have lots of paper waste or flyers it ends up in the garbage there.
It makes sense since people open their mail boxes right there.
We should be more conscious of what we are throwing away versus doing our part in recycling when it is so easy as having a separate recycling bin.
Recycling Bins
I'm working on it. The bins you speak of - the cans sitting next to the mailboxes - are actually FOR recycling ONLY. Sadly, many people abuse them and use them as garbage cans, instead of taking the 15 more steps it would take to throw their garbage away in the dumpster.
We won't be adding any more bins in that area, as it is not the job of maintenace to have to throw away people's household refuse; that's the responsibility of each person. I DO have a solution in mind, but, it isn't one that is high on the priority list of things to accomplish for the maintenace team. Eventually, it will be put in place.
I also intend on putting recycling bins for pop cans and bottles, etc (anything with a deposit) next to each garbage can in the parkade. Sooner of later, they'll appear, because I agree with you - recycling is important.
