Noise from upstairs neighbour with hardwood floors

Just wondering if anyone else has had any issues with noise from an upstairs neighbour who has installed hardwood floors in their unit?

I'm wondering if the hardwood floors seems to amplify some kinds of noise for you?

My specific issue with my upstairs neighbour is that he plays Rock Band (the video game) almost every day--- the drum kit means that I live with almost constant knocking on my ceiling. On nights when he has guests, the drumming is compounded with loud music.

I have spoken to him on at least a dozen occasions, yet here I am at 11pm listening to this garbage---again.

I don't imagine anyone else has the same Rock Band problem, but I'm curious whether the hardwood floor-noise connection sounds familiar to anyone.

Flooring

File a complaint with the Board. When owners choose to do certain types of renos, they are SUPPOSED to get Board permission first; namely with flooring and knocking down walls, as those renovations could effect the building or others within it.

Hardwood laminate flooring (it is doubtful it is real hardwood, as that would need to be nailed down; a person would have to put down a subfloor to put in real hardwood, which would make the project VERY expensive) can be very noisy if the person who installed it didn't put in the proper sound-reducing underlay. Sounds (pardon the pun) like he didn't.

what's the best way to do that? send a letter to what address?

Letter

Good question. We're currently working on getting a P.O. Box for letters to be sent to (directly), but in the meantime, send the letter to Celtic.

It would also be a good idea to email me a soft copy of the letter. That way we (the Board) knows a letter has been sent and that we should be expecting to hear something about it from the property management company.
