I have been here almost a year and a half and have done my fare share of pointing out issues to the office, everything from general observations to almost being my floor spokesperson on issues. However, as mentioned in another post it just seemed like I was being ignored so I gave up. As much as I would like to help, the general decline of the building has soured my taste for Cap Centre and will be moving out once my lease is done in ~4 months.
I appreciate the committee, if it is resident based, for taking the initiative, however I fear it is too little too late for me.
However with this website I will continue to monitor the forums and post my $0.02.
I can definitely appreciate your position on the issue - believe me, many of us know where you're coming from. All I can say is hopefully we'll be able to change your mind in the next couple months :-)
Both Chris and I are members of the Condo Board and are residents in the building. We'll be monitoring the forums closely. Chris is the head of the Security Committee and yes it is run entirely by residents of the building. We have about 6-8 residents already participating in the Committee.
It's great to hear you want to be involved and I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out the first time when you made an effort. I'd really encourage you to come to one of the Security Committee meetings. We meet casually at The Pint and the time needed to volunteer on the committee is very minimal. We'll post the date of the next meeting on the website. If nothing else come out and meet the other people in the building and share some of your concerns!
I can certainly understand your distaste. I too have had my share of building related frustrations to contend with. So, I understand your position to leave. I don't blame you for making that choice either.
I can assure you that this committee IS resident based. That's the whole purpose of its foundation. In fact, someone on the committee will be knocking on your door sometime in the near future, to not only highlight what we're doing and why, but to see if people are interested in helping. Anyone who lives in the building is welcome.
So, even though the ship has sailed for you, we're hoping that it isn't too late for others to get on board. Our goal is to get people involved and make this a better place for all residents. The more people involved, the better off for everyone. And while you may be leaving soon, I still appreciate your feedback on these forums, so I'm glad you'll keep chipping in your two pennies.
what?!? There is a commitee
what?!? There is a commitee getting stuff done? Could have fooled me...
Committee
Well, we are a fledgling committee, just getting things underway. Getting things done takes time.
Perhaps you'd care to volunteer and help improve things faster?

I'll be sure to put those two cents to good use.
